BEARS SIGN VETERAN WR SANTONIO HOLMESThe Chicago Bears agreed to terms with veteran receiver Santonio Holmes on Saturday, ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports.The 30-year-old Holmes played in 11 games with the New York Jets last season, catching 23 passes for 456 yards and one touchdown.Holmes was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII with nine receptions for 131 yards and one touchdown in the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.Holmes has not had a 1,000 yard season since he was with the Steelers in 2009, he was traded the following offseason to the Jets.Holmes will compete for a roster spot with Eric Weems, Chris Williams, Josh Morgan, Michael Spurlock, Armanti Edwards, Josh Bellamy and Dale Moss, who are all behind Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall on the depth chart. The Bears had previously worked out Holmes and free agent Ben Obamanu after projected No. 3 receiver Marquess Wilson underwent surgery to repair a broken collarbone. BEARS SIGN VETERAN WR SANTONIO HOLMES

The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with veteran receiver Santonio Holmes on Saturday, ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports.

The 30-year-old Holmes played in 11 games with the New York Jets last season, catching 23 passes for 456 yards and one touchdown.

Holmes was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII with nine receptions for 131 yards and one touchdown in the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
